The Dream of Fitzers
The Fitzers story began in 1949 with a bold idea. Frank Fitzpatrick Senior established a pioneering fruit, vegetable, wholefood and delicatessen wholesale business on Camden Street — a hub of quality and innovation supplying kitchens across Dublin.
For Frank Snr., the business was never the destination. It was the stepping stone towards one goal: a welcoming restaurant of his own, in the heart of the city.
Raised in a Trade
Frank Snr.’s nine children grew up surrounded by Dublin’s finest produce, working alongside their father in the Camden Street business. They learned what good produce feels like in the hand, and that the ingredient is where everything begins.
That upbringing instilled an understanding of quality and service that became the hallmark of the Fitzers name across Dublin’s restaurant scene — and it is the same standard we buy to today.
A Legacy Continued
Frank Fitzpatrick Senior passed in 1975, before he could realise his dream. His spirit and his standards inspired his children to make their own way in Dublin hospitality.
In 1980 the family opened the first Fitzers on Camden Street, followed by Dawson Street and on Baggot Street. Four decades in Dublin dining rooms, built on the same principle their father worked to: buy the best, and treat every guest as a guest.
Fulfilling the Dream on Exchequer Street
On the fiftieth anniversary of his passing, our family brought our father’s original dream to life at No. 33 Exchequer Street. This restaurant is the culmination of the family’s journey and a direct tribute to his vision.
It is built on ‘Food and Family with Provenance’ — and on the belief that every meal we serve is an honour to his memory and to your trust.
The Fitzers Timeline
Frank Fitzpatrick Snr. founds his fruit, vegetable and wholefood wholesale business on Camden Street.
Twenty-six years supplying Dublin kitchens. Nine children raised in the trade
Frank Snr. passes, before opening the restaurant he always intended.
His children open the first Fitzers restaurant, on Camden Street.
Fitzers on Dawson Street and on Baggot Street.
Fitzers Bistro & Bar opens at No. 33 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2.
